For Jittima , the co-founder of SIAMRINGTON, every custom jewelry commission brings its own unique set of intricacies. Yet, when reflecting on the most challenging pieces her studio has ever brought to life, the true test often isn't about overcoming a design flaw, it is about honoring the profound trust placed in her hands.
In a recent conversation, Jittima opened up about the realities of bespoke jewelry, the dedication required behind the scenes, and why a ring is rarely just a ring.
The 100-Hour Commitment
When asked about the brand's most demanding project, Jittima points to a highly intricate micro-diamond cluster ring. The sheer technical difficulty lay not in the size of the stones, but in the painstaking precision required to set them.
"Just the setting process alone took over 100 hours," Jittima recalls. "Because the diamonds were incredibly small, they had to be stacked in three interlocking, zig-zag layers. It was entirely done by hand by a single master artisan, who then had to go back over the piece to secure and refine every microscopic detail."
This extraordinary level of dedication resulted in the longest production time SIAMRINGTON had ever undertaken for a single piece. Yet, the outcome was exactly what they had hoped for a breathtaking ring for a loyal Thai client who was returning to the brand for her fourth commission.
An Ecosystem of Trust
In custom design, the gap between a client's imagination and the physical limitations of metal and stone is often where conflict arises. However, for this particular milestone piece, the process was remarkably smooth. The secret? Unwavering mutual trust.
"We were very fortunate that this regular client was incredibly open-minded and believed deeply in our artisans' skills," Jittima explains. "When we told her that the intricate details would take significantly longer than a standard ring, she completely understood."
This trust is a two-way street at SIAMRINGTON. Just as the client gives the studio the time it needs, Jittima extends that same freedom to her craftsmen. "When a piece is this difficult, we give our artisans complete autonomy. We don't rush them, and we never force them to compromise on the finer details just to meet a deadline. That environment is what allows the work to come out perfectly."
Holding Onto Memories
The meticulous care applied to the metalwork is matched only by the emotional weight these pieces carry. For Siamrington, the pressure of bespoke jewelry goes far beyond aesthetics and pricing.
"It is absolutely true that our clients don't see a ring as just a piece of jewelry. They see it as a crystallization of their memories, their family, and the people they love," she says with warmth.
She notes that clients often bring in rings they have worn for decades, gifts from husbands or personal milestones. Some purchase their first custom diamond ring as a reward to themselves in their later years, while others want to redesign an old engagement ring, insisting that every original element be incorporated into the new design because of the sentiment attached to it.
"These stories are irreplaceable," Jittima emphasizes. "That is why, throughout the creation process, we constantly check in with the client for their feedback. We want to know how they feel and if they want anything adjusted. It isn't just a financial transaction. They are entrusting us with a precious memory. We simply cannot ruin that."
Beyond the Smile
Ultimately, the grueling hours and the heavy responsibility dissolve the moment the final piece is handed over. For Siamrington, the exhaustion fades when we see the client's reaction.
"Delivering a piece and seeing the client's joy makes all the hard work worth it," she reflects. "A genuine smile and honest, positive feedback are things money simply cannot buy. It proves that they trust us. We are so deeply grateful that people give us the opportunity to build these memories for them."
This philosophy remains the driving force behind SIAMRINGTON. Every challenging brief and every 100-hour setting is not just an exercise in craftsmanship, but a step toward building a better brand, one that continues to translate human stories into timeless, wearable art.
